Invisalign

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment option that uses clear trays to straighten your smile. It is most often used by teens and adults who want a clearer and more inconspicuous way to straighten their teeth. Invisalign should be worn for about 22 hours every single day, and treatment is quicker than with traditional braces. Invisalign treatment is often more comfortable as well, since the aligners can easily be removed as needed.

Why is Invisalign needed?

You might want or need Invisalign treatment because you have crowded, crooked or unevenly spaced teeth. Invisalign can even help with overbites, underbites, openbites and even crossbites. Our goal is to provide you with the orthodontic treatment that you need using a complete system of Invisalign aligners. Treatment is easier and quicker than with traditional braces.

Who is a candidate for Invisalign treatment?

With the help of an exam and consultation, we can get to know you and your smile. We can determine if Invisalign is the right choice for you. Some patients assume that their teeth are too crooked or crowded to undergo Invisalign treatment, but this isn’t always the case. Invisalign is helpful for mild, moderate and even severe orthodontic problems.

What happens during treatment with Invisalign?

We begin with a consultation to create impressions of your teeth. These impressions allow us to make your first set of Invisalign aligners. The aligners need to be worn for about 22 hours each day in order for treatment to be effective. You will then come back into the office after a few weeks to have the next set of Invisalign aligners made just for you. You will need to come in consecutively over the course of treatment in order for it to work effectively. Most patients can expect to be wearing their Invisalign for anywhere from about six months to two years depending on how severely crowded or crooked their teeth currently are.
